Mini Greek Film Festival - Madalena

MADALENA by Dinos Dimopoulos | 1960 | 88’ | Music: Manos Hadjidakis |

The hatred between two captains on a Cycladic island divides its people. After captain Kosmas’ death, his daughter Madalena (Aliki Vougiouklaki) has to raise her six siblings on her own. She takes over his business, but everyone turns to her father’s competitor as no one trusts a woman to be a captain. The village priest comes up with a plan to help her. When, finally, this works, Madalena starts receiving roses from an unknown sender…

Screened from a digital copy (DCP), featuring English subtitles and Greek subtitles for the deaf or hard of hearing (CC). The screening is supported by Finos Film.
