Mini Greek Film Festival - John the Violent

JOHN THE VIOLENT  by Tonia Marketaki | 1973 | 177´ |

Midnight on a street in 1960s Athens. A young woman is stabbed to death by a stranger. The alleged perpetrator, John, is an unstable young man who fantasises about killing women. He believes this validates his manhood as dictated by society at large. Upon arrest he immediately confesses, but during the trial it becomes apparent that his testimony is a recreation of what he has read in the press. The truth has many faces, and guilt even more…

Screened in a newly restored digital copy (DCP), with English subtitles and Greek subtitles for the deaf or hard-of-hearing (SDH).
