To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Greek Festival of Sydney documentary photographer Effy Alexakis has accessed her vast archive on the Greek-Australian experience and selected one contemporary image to represent each year since 1982 in order to reveal the changing face of Greek-Australians. Alexakis’ visual odyssey offers Greek-Australian viewers a unique look at their immediate past from one of their own. For the broader Australian community it forms a visual diary recording one of the most emblematic cultural groups within the flux and challenges of a contemporary multicultural society.
