A Philosophy Play: Smart Machines and Wise Guys

The evening begins with a talk by Dr Edward Spence about why Wisdom (Sophia) is important in the Age of AI Technology, dominated by autonomous artificial intelligence agents whose impact is not always conducive to human wellbeing.  This is followed by his Smart Machines and Wise Guys, a Socratic dialogue between a Mr Google and a young woman, Sophia, who is seeking wisdom in an age dominated by too much knowledge.  The evening concludes with open discussion. The Philosophy Plays Project was founded in 1997 by Edward Spence at Steki Taverna and this year celebrates 25 years of Public Philosophy in Australia.
